#PHILABOXACADEMY

It's Fast, It's Physical!

The Phila Box Academy is perfect for the experienced field player ready to transition into the rink; or someone with prior box experience looking to take their game to the next level.

The Phila Box Academy program is designed to educate & train boys and girls elementary school and middle school players on the benefits of playing box lacrosse. Our goal is to inspire the next generation of American box players.

Players will learn to execute the 2-man game, excel in tight spaces, be more creative without the ball, and improve their stick-skills.

Box will challenge all players to become a more complete lacrosse player!

CURRICULUM

The curriculum is designed to be fast-paced and has an increased number of reps compared to traditional field training.  Each session starts by getting on the glass, learning to finish on small goals with bigger goalies, learning to get to the middle, and the nuances of the 2 man game. Players will be taught angles on offense & defense, box terms, how to properly communicate, running the floor, and proper spacing.

BENEFITS & SKILLS LEARNED

  • Boys & Girls
  • Rules & strategy
  • 2-man games (Pick & rolls are a huge piece of the box offense)
  • Off ball movement & defending the off ball game
  • Transition offense & defense strategy
  • Quick decision making
  • Defensive skills
  • Stick skills
  • Creativity
  • Toughness! Box is physical. Proper equipment to wear - Kidney pads are recommended as cross-checking is legal
  • First-class facility - centrally located
  • Shooting in tight spaces and accuracy over power

BOX ACADEMY STAFF

Our staff is world-class and includes multiple former NLL players & coaches. The leaders of our box program are Coach Manney, Lawrence, Resch, Leahy, Kupprion, and Johnson. Coaches need to be properly trained just like the players. The skills, drills, and strategy are very different from field lacrosse. The most obvious difference to a casual observer is that in the game of box there is a thirty-second shot clock and the ball never goes out of bounds. This is what makes the game fast, physical and fun.

We field elite boys & girls box lacrosse teams ranging from high school all the way down to a 3/4th grade team. Tryouts for the 2022-23 season are coming this fall!
