2020 Boys Philly Summer Showcase Manney's Men

In the midst of Tropical Storm Fay, the summer's top individual recruiting event went off without a hitch. The country's best 2021-2024 players weren't phased by the treacherous conditions and put on a show for the 400+ coaches watching at home. Over 240 athletes from 21 different states had the opportunity to dawn the Showcase jersey. Of those 240 plus athletes, 71 were named All-Stars and only eight have been selected as Manney's Men. Check out his selections below.

Brett Manney, is a 13-year professional lacrosse player, captain of the New England Blackwolves, and two-time captain for the USA National Indoor team, serves as the VP of Recruiting at NXT. He won two bronze medals with the USA National Indoor Team. He played on Delaware's 2007 Final Four team, captained the 2008 team, made the North-South All-Star Game, and is the driving force behind Showcase Lacrosse's nationally-known events. Manney sees players from all over the country at NXT events.

2021/2022 ATTACK

JOSH GALLIA| 2021
Shipley (PA), Freedom

Gallia has been a constant All-Star at many NXT showcases over the year with his steady play. The uncommitted Shipley Gator is on many school's radars and just needs to find the right home. Gallia is a nice combination of finesse with some flash in his game as a lefty attackman. He can finish but also is very comfortable with the ball in his stick and making plays for others. The highly sought after attackman is one of the better uncommitted players left and hopefully finds a home soon.

HONORABLE MENTION:
Colin Zyck, 2021, Saucon Valley (PA), NXT
Adam Figler, 2022, Belmont Hill (MA), 3d NE
Dell Vidunas, 2022, Freeman (VA), Richmond Hawks
Matt Vanaman, 2022, St. Augustine Prep (NJ), SouthShore

2021/2022 MIDFIELD

CARTER KEMPNEY | 2022
Carthage (NY), Orange Crush

Carthage is lacrosse royalty when it comes to a lacrosse town as the Powell brothers hail from this small upstate New York town. Kempney did his part in representing the town with his play at the showcase. Another former All-Star, Kempney brings his lunch pail with him to the field when he plays. He is tough, plays hard between the lines and his lacrosse IQ is very high for a midfielder of his age. Whether he is on the face-off wing or getting a dodge from the midfield, Kempney is an all-around midfielder with a variety of moves who impressed many at the Showcase.

HONORABLE MENTION:
John Hartzell Jr, 2022,  Rye (NY), Predators
Matt May, 2021, Pleasantville (NY), LI Sting
Brody Coleman, 2022, Cazenovia (NY), Orange Crush

2021/2022 DEFENSE

NORBERTO DE HOYOS | 2021
Brentwood (NY), LI Outlaws

When De Hoyos stepped on the field he made his impact felt all over the field. As an LSM Norberto covers guys endline to endline, plays with a motor, and likes to push the ball in transition. The Long Island native is not afraid of anyone on the field and imposes his will with hard checks, great transition plays, and aggressive checks. The LSM did it all during the showcase as his energy was evident that his time during the quarantine getting ready for this moment.

HONORABLE MENTION:
Jayme Wilde, 2021, Phillips Academy (MA), Coyotes
JD Shimer, 2021, Bishop Shanahan (PA), Freedom
Matt Basso, 2021, Don Bosco (NJ), Swarm

2021/2022 GOALIE

CHRIS DINDINO | 2021
Peddie (NJ), SouthShore

Since 2015 I have watched Dindino morph from a young, quiet netminder with potential into a legit goalie who commands presence in net. The South Jersey native is quick with his movements from pipe to pipe and knows how to track the ball effectively. His direction of teammates and ball stopping is elite. There were some legit goaltenders and just like his chrome gold helmet, Dindino shined all day despite the tough tropical storm conditions

HONORABLE MENTION:
Connor Flanegan, 2021, Lansdale Catholic (PA), NXT
Hunter Waldron, 2021, Rutgers Prep (NJ), Riot

2023/2024 ATTACK

ZACH BYE | 2023
Hotchkiss (CT)

It was a busy week for Bye who made the All-Star game at the Baltimore Showcase earlier in the week. Bye is very comfortable dodging with pressure and making pinpoint passes as well. The biggest difference in his game is his confidence is head and shoulders above his peers as he is not afraid to dodge against anyone. Bye certainly is a gamer who knows how score, pass and play with swagger.

HONORABLE MENTION:
Dylan Jaszcz, 2024, Episcopal Academy (PA), Brotherly Love
Jack Jenkins, 2023, Hudson (OH), Burning River

2023/2024 MIDFIELD

JOHN MAJKA | 2024
Malvern Prep (PA), Brotherly Love

It is pretty remarkable that Majka was one of the top defenders in the Philly area a few years ago and now he is arguably the best midfielder in the 2024 class in Philly. Majka resembles a young Max Seibald with his speed north to south in addition to how aggressive he is with the ball on the ground. Not many players his age play that hard and Majka gets great separation on his dodges and has a great shot on the run. Once the young Malvern Prep player develops softer hands and plays more short stick he will be a nightmare for anyone trying to guard him.

HONORABLE MENTION:
Will Roberts, (FO) 2023, St. Alban’s (DC), DC Express
Nathan Cobery, 2023, Loomis Chaffee (CT), Piatelli
Luke Warrington, 2024, Culver (IN), TRUE

2023/2024 DEFENSE

LUCCA DiBARTOLOME | 2023
Malvern Prep, Brotherly Love

This time last year Lucca was battling cancer and now he was batting top 2023 and 2024 midfielders from the Showcase. Quite the inspirational story now that DiBartolome is back on the lacrosse field and he was a menace all over the field. He played LSM, close D, and provided a spark to the offensive end when he needed to. Lucca has good feet, solid hands, and is comfortable throwing solid checks. He was so good he won the MVP award, a rarity for defensemen.

HONORABLE MENTION:
Rees Chandler, 2023, Seattle Prep (WA), CitySide
Joe Carbone, 2023, Greensboro Day (NC), NC Fusion

2023/2024 GOALIE

BEN GAROZZO | 2023
Phillips Andover (MA), Fighting Clams

The Fighting Clams have been producing top-notch goalies the past few years at our showcases and Garozzo is no different when it comes to talent. Goalie is a tough position but when you add in torrential rain and wind it makes it even harder to see the ball. The Massachusetts native was poised between the net and threw some nice outlet passes throughout the day. His instincts in tight were spot on and despite not playing with that defense before he was able to cover up many mistakes in front of him with timely saves.

HONORABLE MENTION:
Noah Dacaney, 2023, Penn Charter (PA), Big 4 HHH
Conor Farrell, 2023, Churchill (MD), DC Express
