NXT Lacrosse has announced the formation of the Phila Stars, a squad of uncommitted and committed 2019 boys that will receive elite training and access to top recruiting events.
Phila Stars will train, challenge, and prepare 18 players for a memorable senior year. The team will be led by NXT President, Peter Lawrence, a notable 18-year college coach and most recently the defensive coordinator for Team Scotland in the World Games.
Nick Taylor, head coach for Division III Arcadia University, will be helping to lead this group as well. Other guest coaches, including Bill Leahy and Brett Manney, will bring impactful coaching experience to this team.
Players on the Phila Stars can be expected to be pushed out of their comfort zone and experience training equivalent to the college level. Fall practices will be held on Wednesday nights at the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken, PA for 8 weeks with participation in 2 November recruiting events, the Jersey Invitational and Philly Invitational. To best prepare and be successful at the Fall Invitationals, the Stars will have one play day and at times, train both with other NXT high school teams and coaches, as well as on their own.
The Phila Stars are looking for players who can make the commitment without creating an unmanageable schedule during their senior fall. The coaching staff’s plan is to help uncommitted 2019s find the right fit for their academic and lacrosse futures, as many colleges and universities are still evaluating and recruiting the 2019 high school class this fall.
Players can come from any club team.
Players interested in joining this team should email Coach Lawrence (peter@nxtsports.com) to determine if you’re the right fit for this team. Limited spots remain.
“We created this opportunity because the traditional club experience came to a close at the end of your junior year,” Lawrence said. “That doesn’t make sense to me from a development or exposure standpoint. Hence a fall club team called the Phila Stars. We want to help kids who have played in any club to further train or find a college of their dreams during their senior year.”
