NXT Enters Alliance with Steelyard Sports Complex

NXT will base its fast-growing box lacrosse club and winter training program at Steelyard Sports located in King of Prussia.

Getting experience training in the tight confines of box lacrosse has increasingly become an important part of developing well-rounded field lacrosse players. Since launching two years ago, the NXT box program has seen a dramatic increase in interest.

President of NXT, Peter Lawerence, said “The Steelyard is a beautiful facility. The box training spaces are fully boarded and glassed with real box bench areas. The state-of-the-art lighting will allow our players to train in a professional manner. Our goal is to have our training in best-in-class facilities, and through this alliance with Steelyard we are accomplishing that.”

NXT’s box club program is expected to grow significantly this winter in its third year, and first at the Steelyard. The club program is led by elite coaches including New England Blackwolves captain Brett Manney, former Philadelphia Wings player and head coach Tony Resch, and La Salle head coach Bill Leahy. Said Manney, “it is exciting to move the box club to the Steelyard, which will allow us to work with more athletes and families and help them develop as players through box lacrosse training.”

"Steelyard Sports Complex is excited to have NXT training and playing at our facility. We look forward to a strong relationship with them for many years, providing the area’s best facilities and best resources to the regions athletes," said Steelyard partner, David Eustice. Beyond NXT’s box club program, NXT will also host a box academy on Monday nights in October to allow more players to experience the game. Going forward, NXT plans to offer additional box playdays and professional training all designed to further the goal of developing lacrosse players. NXT will hold their box tryouts in October at the Steelyard.

More details on box lacrosse offerings will be announced soon.
