NXT LC Represents at the 2021 All America Underclass Tournament

Baltimore, MD NXT LC was well represented at last week’s Under Armour All America Underclass Tournament in Baltimore, MD. Regarded as one of the top events on the circuit each summer, the Underclass Tournament brings together student-athletes from across the country and places them on regional all-star teams. There are two divisions, the Command division (2025 and 2024’s) and the Highlight division (2023 and 2022’s) - both compete for a championship.

Coach Peter Lawrence and Coach Candace Bossell both help lead Philly teams in the tournament. Coach Lawrence led the Philly Command team to the #1 seed heading into the final four, losing to eventual champion Baltimore; while Coach Bossell’s Highlight team fell in the championship game to Long Island.

NXT LC players were also well represented on the Philly squads - and even had a girl on the Midwest roster. In total, 20 NXT LC boys and girls members were represented last weekend.

The girls Philly highlight team had the most NXT LC representation with eight girls on the team. They finished pool play 3-1 winning those games by a combined 51-3 margin including a 13-0 shutout over the CONNY region. Their only loss was to one-seeded Long Island. In the playoffs, they took on three-seeded Baltimore in the semis, winning 10-9 before falling 10-8 to Long Island on ESPN3 in the championship.

Coach Law’s Command team had eight NXT LC players on its roster. They roared out to a 4-0 start in pool play - earning them the one-seed in the Command division. They met Baltimore on Sunday where they ultimately met their demise falling 10-6 in the semifinals. Baltimore went on to win the Command division.

Coach Law was proud of how his Philly team performed “we just returned from the Underclass Tournament. Really proud of how Philly and NXT represented. We lost in the Semis to eventual champs Baltimore. NXT players represented the most of any club and it was Philly’s best finish in years. We had an amazing experience”.

In total, Philadelphia boys and girls teams went a combined 15-7 at the Underclass Tournament with each of the four teams earning spots in the playoffs. Makena Harrington’s (OH) Midwest team finished 2-3 in the Highlight division.
