This past Sunday the NXT Girls LC took part in the 5th Annual ‘Stoga 5v5 Lax Fest at Conestoga High School. NXT had a strong showing taking home two championships and playing in three! The event is held each year in honor of the late Pete Kienzle who lost his battle with cancer in 2014. Peter is the father of NXT LC 2023 player, Piper Kienzle.
The Stoga Lax Fest raises money for the Pete Kienzle Fund of the Fighting Back Scholarship Program. Based in Malvern, PA, this organization raises money for “individuals who are Fighting Back from a life changing injury or illness through courage, desire and perseverance.” Rehabilitation is often hardly covered under medical insurance and the Fighting Back Scholarship Program looks to help families and individuals through financial support for those services by providing one year of post-rehabilitative exercise for two individuals -- a veteran and a civilian in need.
The event day included a multitude of activities including a breakfast, clinics, shooting competitions and the main event - a 5v5 round robin tournament. The Lax Fest hosts boys and girls teams ranging from grades 1st to 6th.
NXT LC brought their 2025, 2026, 10U and 9U teams to compete in the Lax Fest. NXT showed well as the 2025 Black team and 2026 Volt team both brought home championships in exciting fashion. The 2026 Volt team defeated Philly Blast in a thrilling 1 goal contest while the 2025 Black squad brought home the championship after beating HHH in the finals. The 10U team played well all day but ultimately fell in the championship game.
This weekend capped off the first weekend of competition for NXT Girls LC and the club was certainly proud to participate and support such a great event!
