2024 Nike Boys Philly Showcase Manney’s Men
2024 MANNEY’S MEN
Year 14 of the Nike Boys Philly Showcase brought no shortage of talent to Capelli Sports Complex on November 11th & 12th. Widely regarded as the nation’s premier recruiting event, the Showcase hosted over 400 athletes from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 recruiting classes over two days
The athletes broke out into teams based on grad year and competed in three games over the course of the day. In the afternoon, college coaches looked on as faceoff midfielders & goalies had the chance to compete in the King of the X & King of the Crease prior to the All-Star and MVP announcements.
The annual Fab-40 All-Star Games concluded the day under the lights. Every all-star selection was given a Nike all-star gear pack that included a Nike jersey, shorts, shirt, and a specially designed all-star hoodie.
Each year Brett Manney, VP of Recruiting at NXT highlights the players that stood out above the rest. Below are those who caught Brett’s eye in the class of 2024.
Brett Manney, is a 14-year professional lacrosse player, captain of the Albany FireWolves, and two-time captain for the USA National Indoor team, serves as the VP of Recruiting at NXT. He won two bronze medals with the USA National Indoor Team. He played on Delaware’s 2007 Final Four team, captained the 2008 team, made the North-South All-Star Game, and is the driving force behind Showcase Lacrosse’s nationally-known events. Manney sees players from all over the country at NXT events.
ATTACK
Ben Wick, Taft (CT), 2Way
The talented lefty on the stacked Taft roster sure knows how to fill up a stat sheet. Once a 2023 recruit and now a 2024, Wick should be a highly sought-after 2024, considering all the intangibles he brings to the field. He can finish his shots dodging from x, from the wing, and moving off ball. His wide array of shooting angles and nifty finishes make him a creative playmaker. He can finish behind the back, at low angles, and can rip it from the outside despite his smaller stature. Left-handed attackmen usually are just finishers, but Wick is a catalyst who can put up points scoring or feeding others. If you take a step off him, his release is quick and hard, making you pay with the great deception. An elite talent who should have some great suitors lining up to snag one of the best uncommitted 24s left.
Honorable Mention:
Jack Herron, Wyoming Seminary (PA), NXT
Brett Maguire, Harrison (GA), Thunder
Brendan Johnson, Loomis Chaffee (CT), 212 Lacrosse
Callum Iverson, Mercer Island (WA), Mercer Island LC
MIDFIELD
Errol Garvey Jr, Don Bosco (NJ), BBL
There is some serious shake to Garvey’s game from the midfield. Garvey loves to square up his defenders with a solid split dodge and often times getting to the cage quickly. This lefty loves to sweep across to his strong hand and unleash a shot. Yet he is not afraid to go to his right hand and set up an offense that way. Garvey still has a lot of upside but his ability to consistently get to the net and create a shot is what separated him from other midfielders during the day.
Honorable Mention:
Nolan Bellotti, West Genesee (NY), Orange Crush
Gunnar Anderson, St. Anthony’s (NY), LI Express
Andrew Pape, Red Bank Regional (NJ), Tri State
Greyson Kissock, Jesuit College Prep (TX), UNRL Texas
Daine Kostes, Bridgewater Raritan (NJ), 2knights
DEFENSE
Brooks Kitchel, Gilman School (MD), Team 91 Maryland
Brooks is a big boy defenseman when he was roaming the turf at the showcase. Easily standing at 6’3, Kitchel is an imposing defenseman with his 5-foot stick, he covers a lot of ground. What I like about him is he is an old-school defender who just wants to go out there and impose his will over attackmen. When you possess his size, why not? Brooks goes after groundballs hard, cross-checks players into the ground, and plays below the retaining line well. If Kitchel improves his stick skills and communication, he will turn into an elite prospect for someone.
Honorable Mention:
Thomas Gallagher, Council Rock South (PA), Tristate
Ronan Schipani, Tabor Academy (MA), Boston Kings
Erik Young, Valor Christian (CO), 3d Colorado
Eddie Lin, Redwood (CA), Alcatraz Outlaws
GOALIE
Jack Old, Taft (CT), True National
This young netminder, who originally hails from Upper Arlington, Ohio reminds me a lot of a current midwestern goalie- Notre Dame’s Liam Entenmann. Entenman was a former showcase stud himself, and at times I thought I was being brought in time to when Liam attended our event. Old is tall, rangy, and can make an array of saves at any time. His high crease style of play allows him to take away many angles from shooters and combine that with quick reflexes he was fun to watch. The winner of our King of the Crease, he consistently stopped shots all day and was unreal in the finals of the competition. There were some talented 2024 goalies at the showcase, but Old’s dominant day allowed him to be the best.
Honorable Mention:
Zacc Mcdonald, Westwood (TX), UNRL
Shane Corcoran, Sandwich (MA), Laxachusetts
John Webb, Radnor (PA), NXT
