Girls Tournament Director

NXTsports is looking for a professional and reliable individual to work as a Tournament Director for our Girls summer lacrosse tournaments. A strong understanding of youth girls and women’s lacrosse is required. The ideal Tournament Director is a strong leader who can keep a level head and work efficiently in a fast-paced atmosphere.

As an on-site Tournament Director, you will manage tournament staff, such as field coordinators, and clock operators. You will also communicate and collaborate with coaches, club directors, referee assignors, athletic trainers, and facility operators to ensure a safe and successful tournament. You will also work very closely with the NXT Operations team to assist in making logistical decisions.

This role requires weekend work, long hours, and travel before/after the event (if the tournament is out of state).

RESPONSIBILITIES AS A TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR:

  • Handle coach/team issues
  • Manage referees along with head ref assignor
  • Answer questions related to schedule, rules, standings/advancements, etc.
  • Monitor input and posting of scores in a timely manner
  • Handle weather reports, make decisions or call games and rearrange schedule if needed
  • Ensure the safety of attendees: follow Emergency Action Plan & assist Athletic Trainers in an emergency situation
  • Work side by side with the facility operations crew
  • Oversee contractual workers

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passion for Girls lacrosse and demonstrated knowledge of the sport, rules, and the recruiting landscape
  • Strong self-initiative and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Aptitude for collaborating with others, establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, coaches, and players
  • Ability to work events and weekends on a regular basis and travel is required
  • Clean driving record, practice safe driving, and comfortable driving for long periods of time
  • Excellent verbal and written communications; attention to detail
  • Willing and able to lift heavy equipment (50 lbs or more)
  • Understand social media, technology, and have good communication skills
